This site may also contain links to third party sites for the convenience of our customers. Your Computer Doctor is not responsible for the privacy or the content displayed on these web sites.
Collecting your personal information
At Your Computer Doctor, it is of our concern to protect customer information and to provide information, and a safe and secure on-line ordering system. Our on-line ordering system is used to gather information about our customers, enabling us to provide a complete on-line ordering service.
No information will be collected by browsing our web site. Once you have registered on our web site your personal details will be stored in our database so we can make your on-line purchasing easier in the future, or to provide you with prompt assistance if you should call our office for support.
Our web server uses cookies if the customer's browser permits this. The cookie is only used for one shopping session; it is not used for collecting individual details. The cookie will expire after a period of idle time.
Use and secure your personal Information
We collect your contact information (name, address, e-mail address, and phone numbers) and financial information (credit card details), to process your order.
This information will be kept confidential and at no time will this information be traded, swapped, exchanged or sold to any other party or company. Your Computer Doctor will not use this information for any other purpose than to complete a customer's order, or to communicate with the customer to discuss associated problems or delays concerning their order(s). We may share this information and only that information which is absolutely necessary, with those third parties that are involved in the processing of your order. For instance, the financial institution that issued your credit card and the shipping carrier that delivers your order.
All customer information is kept on a secure server, and is protected by the latest security software.
Customers can access and update their details by logging into Your Computer Doctor's website. Both a username (usually your email address) and a password of your choice are required to log into our website. Passwords are stored on our server using one-way encryption technology. A forgotten password can not be retrieved in its original form. A new password must be re-issued each time the customers requests a password. Customers can have the re-issued new password sent to them by submitting the correct E-mail address.
Credit Card Information
Your credit card details are only used to process payment for your order. The processing is carried out offline (not through an online payment gateway) through a separate, dedicated line to our bank (National Australia Bank). Only authorised personnel at Your Computer Doctor have access to your card information. Your Computer Doctor will at no time disclose this information to any third party other than our bank. The customer gives us their authority to use these details for payment of their orders by submitting said details through our website. All credit card details are encrypted during on-line data transfer using Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) technology. Credit card details are not stored on our database/servers. Card details are kept on-file (in paper form) in a high-security safe for a period of ten (10) days after processing. After this the paperwork concerning your card details is destroyed. This is why customers must submit their credit card details each time they place an order (even if this order is placed within ten days of the previous).
Your Computer Doctor takes credit card fraud seriously. In order to combat use of fraudulent credit card information, and to ensure the security of your transaction, your IP address will always be logged. We work together closely with the Electronic Fraud Examination Unit (State Crime Operations Command) in Brisbane in order to develop more sophisticated fraud protection mechanisms and prevent card fraud nation-wide. As a first time customer, you may receive a telephone call or E-mail requesting more information or proof (eg faxed copy of the credit card and/or ID) to confirm the details that you have supplied to us. If any of the information you supply is found to be false or misleading, we will, if we deem it appropriate, report this to the appropriate authorities.
E-mail Address
The E-mail address you submitted during an order will be used by Your Computer Doctor for the sole purpose of customer service. Your Computer Doctor will only use your E-mail address to communicate with you about the status, cost and shipping details, or any other changes required about your order. We may also send E-mails to customers for important events such as change of address etc, or even vouchers for use in our store.
